2017 Race Day Results
Race Report
A great turnout this year with over 90 runners for the 5km distance and over 40 runners for the 100m dash. The weather was kind to us, not too hot and no rain. There was also great support from friends and families of the runners and all involved with the day dug deep into their pockets to buy cakes which along with the runner's sponsorship has so far raised over £1,300 for St Georges Hospital Charity which is a fantastic result.
If you are like the queen and you don't carry cash, then there is still an opportunity to donate at the link below. When Mathew Crocker and his team operated on Emma for over nine hours to remove over 95% of her cancer, they had to borrow a piece of equipment called an MEP machine to monitor her spinal cord throughout the entire duration of the operation. St George's Hospital desperately need to be able to buy their own MEP machine and your donation will help them achieve that goal.
If you got something out of today which I hope you did, then maybe you can find it within yourself to give something back.........

Results
The winner of the 5km distance from a field of 93 runners was Simon Campbell in a time of 00:18:29:205. The fastest female was Charlotte Nettleton in a time of 00:23:52.20. Simon and Charlotte win their trophies for the first time this year and hopefully they will be committed to defending their trophy at next years event.
This kids 100m dash was won by Jake Jackson and the fastest female was Chloe Lindo.
You can download a copy of the 5km results by clicking on this link. The results/timings went a bit out of kilter during the race (as usual), so I apologise in advance for errors and omissions. If the time registered against your name is faster than you thought it was, then bask in the glory and don't let the truth get in the way of a good story! If your time was slower, then use it as a benchmark to come back again and smash it next year. If you are missing from the results altogether, then you were obviously running so fast that we were unable to record your running number when you crossed the finish line. If you slow down next year we might just be able to record you ;-)
Thanks
Thanks to all volunteers who helped set up, marshal and clear up at the end today, your efforts made a huge difference to ensuring the smooth running of the day. Thanks also to The Malden Centre for supplying the prizes and the warm up. An extra thanks goes to all those bakers who supplied and sold the excellent cakes that you purchased to raise the money that they have.
Request
If you have any photographs from the day that you are happy for us to use on the website or to promote the event, then please send them through. If they have any other runners in your photos, then I will email them to request their permission to use them.
What Next?
If you can't wait until next year for your next run, then a group of us run on Tuesday evenings in Richmond Park in the Summer and then around the streets of New Malden in the winter for about half an hour. All abilities welcome. We also run from New Malden out onto Wimbledon Common / Richmond Park on Saturdays throughout the year for about an hour and a half if its a longer run you are looking for. We have a group called 'New Malden Runners' on Strava if you want to check it out.
You can also register for the weekly free to enter parkruns at www.parkrun.com. Find the one near you on their website, register, download and print off your bar code and just turn up for a 9am start every Saturday throughout the year. Improve your run times and come back to the New Malden 5km run next year to win one of our excellent trophies, as long as this years winners get round to returning them.
We will of course host another 5km fun run and 100m dash on the first Saturday of the Malden Fortnight weekend in 2018. Bookmark the website www.nmfunrun.co.uk in your web browser as we will use the same site next year for registration.
I hope you enjoyed this years event, thanks for your support and hope to see you next year if not before!
